Even Jim Calhoun wasn't shy about saying he didn't think UConn was going to the NIT. He spoke with us for about 20 minutes tonight, which is why I'm posting so late. Check back tomorrow for a full report.
This is my first season covering UConn men's basketball for the Norwich Bulletin after spending this past summer chronicling the WNBA's Connecticut Sun after I covered UConn's women in the second half of last season. I am a self-described college hoops junkie with a soft spot for the mid-major game, partly because I attended Binghamton University, which also produced a better-known sports writer in Tony Kornheiser.
Sports have always been a part of life, and considering my job, not much has changed. Although basketball takes up a majority of my professional time, soccer and hockey are the two sports I enjoy the most. Soccer was the sport I grew up playing and I'm already looking forward to the 2010 World Cup. As for time outside of sports, I believe traveling is the greatest form of education, and I would encourage everyone to get out and experience something new as much as you can.
